OSHA regulations also permit other NIOSH/MSHA respirators (negative pressure type) under specified conditions (see your safety equipment supplier). 2.3 Other hazards
2.2.1 - Symptom of Exposure Health/Environment Breathing dust containing crystalline silica over a prolonged period of time may cause lung damage. Crystalline silica (quartz,cristobalite) is a known cause of silicosis, a progressive, sometimes fatal lung disease. May cause stomach cramps and gastro-intestinal disturbances.
